LSS Introduction

This course is based on the Solo level of LSS and is aimed at all new users in all industries, but existing LSS users may find this course useful too.

The course begins with Terrain Modelling Concepts and covers the practical use of the software including: Controlling the Display, Navigating, Querying a Survey, the Survey Legend, Editing the Survey, Annotating, Exporting to DXF, and Updating the Prototype.

With hands-on exercises throughout the day. Price per person is £175 plus VAT.

Requirements

This is a course for new users, but existing LSS users may find this course useful too.

Trainees do not need knowledge of LSS, but should be familiar with Microsoft Windows applications. 

What will I learn?

  • Session 1 – Digital Terrain Models and the structure of LSS. Opening, Navigating and Interrogating a Survey.
  • Session 2 – Creating a New Survey, Inputting Survey Data, Controlling the Display and Configuring the Survey Legend.
  • Session 3 – Adding Observations & Features, CAD-Pro Commands, Amending, Moving, Removing Observations, the Undo Command, and Adding Surfaces.
  • Session 4 – Annotating a Survey, Updating the Prototype, Exporting to DXF and Configuring the LSS Settings.

LSS Intermediate

This course is based on LSS Vista and is intended for LSS users who have attended the LSS Introduction course. 

The course looks at: Converting Data from Third Party Software (XYZ/CSV, DXF and DWG), Checking, and Editing the Survey, Basic Design Procedures including Circles, Arcs, Parallel and Variable Offsets and Digitising, Copying Data between Surveys, Computing Areas and Volumes, Generating Sections, Plotting Plans and Sections, and an overview of the 3D View command. 

With hands-on exercises throughout the day. Price per person £175 plus VAT.

This is a course for users who have attended the LSS Introduction Course. 

 

What will I learn?

LSS Advanced

This course is based on the advanced functions in LSS Elite and is aimed at LSS users who have attended the LSS Intermediate Course and have experience in using LSS.

The course covers: Designing Sidewalls, Template and Longitudinal Design commands, Merging Designs into the Surrounding Terrain, Advanced Volumes, Isopachyte Modelling, Adjusting Models for Settlement or Required Volume, Volumes with Surface Depths and Zero Isopachyte Boundaries.

With hands-on exercises throughout the day. Price per person £175 plus VAT. 

Requirements

This is a course for users who have attended the LSS Intermediate and have some experience in using LSS.

What will I learn?

  • Session 1 – Designing simple and Benched Slopes, Adding Surfaces by Slopes and Reporting Volumes, and Advanced Volumes Options.
  • Session 2 – Merging Design Models into the Surrounding Terrain, Designing a Longitudinal Gradient and Access Ramp.

This course is based on LSS Solo, follows the LSS Introduction Course and is targeted at Land Surveyors.

The course covers: configuring LSS for Survey Instruments, Processing and Quality Checking Survey Data for Topographical and Elevation Surveys, Feature Coding and LSS Reserved Codes, Survey Reporting and Editing, Traverse Adjustment, CAD-Pro for Amending and Adding Extra Observations, and Transforming a Local Grid Survey to a Different Grid Coordinate System (OSNG).

This course is based on LSS Vista and is targeted at Engineering Surveyors who have attended the LSS Intermediate Course and have some experience in using LSS.

It covers: Configuring LSS for Survey Instruments with processing some engineering examples, Resection and Meaning Hanging Legs, Converting CSVs and LandXMLs with an Alignment, Converting a 2D DXF to a 3D Survey, Finding the Cut/Fill Balance Level, Computing Volumes without and with Surface Depths, Creating a Formation Model and Exporting Design Data to Survey Instruments.

LSS with 3D Vision

This course is based on the LSS Vista or Elite with Point Cloud Licence and is aimed at new and existing users of LSS.

The course introduces LSS 3D Vision as a standalone program, including the Importing of Point Cloud Data (from terrestrial scanners or UAVs/Drones),
Navigating through the Point Cloud and Overdisplaying the LSS DTM, the Searchphere and Filter Box Tools and Digitising Features into an LSS Survey,
Splitting the 3D Vision screen to show the Slice Option and using a LSS SPF for Sections and Multi-Link Feature Digitising, Terrain Extraction for Creating a DTM,
Floor Plans and Elevation Surveys.

Requirements

This is a course for users who have attended the LSS Introduction Course, or have LSS experience and need to work from Point Cloud data.
