LSS is used across a wide range of industries and applications ranging from mineral extraction, land surveying, hydrographic design and surveying, civil engineering, construction, landscape architecture, consultancy, to air and traffic accident investigation, geotechnical engineering, waste management and archaeology.
Starting life with the McCarthy Taylor Partnership, back in 1985, LSS was born out of a desire to produce cost-effective, straightforward software for the surveyor, designer and engineer, primarily in the minerals and civils markets. In 1995 the company became McCarthy Taylor Systems Ltd and can now boast a market leading presence in several industries, including land surveying, civil engineering and mineral extraction. From its headquarters on the edge of the picturesque Cotswold escarpment in Gloucestershire, England, McCarthy Taylor provides a dedicated technical helpline facility to its many hundreds of users throughout the UK and worldwide. Our promise to our users is more than just talk. You only need to speak to any of our users to discover that the McCarthy Taylor advantage is in the quality of our software with a backup service to match.
LSS is a powerful Windows-based Digital Terrain Modelling system capable of importing a wide range of 3D data, including raw land survey information from EDM or GPS instruments, CAD systems and user-definable coordinate formatted data. LSS will run on any Windows platform from Windows 7 to Windows 10 (both 32 and 64-bit).
LSS immediately produces a triangulated terrain model, which can then be queried, viewed, manipulated and designed through.
If the imported data contains point and linear feature coding, information, such as trees, hedges, buildings, kerbs, crest and toe of banks etc, LSS will represent these features on screen and on final plotted output as user-defined symbols and line styles.
LSS is a complete land survey, terrain modelling, volume, design and visualisation package which is relied upon by many blue chip organisations and is well respected amongst engineering and survey professionals as the system of choice for modelling and design. Recent enhancements to the system, such as our Point Cloud processing capability have once again placed LSS ahead of its competition in several key areas and we invite you to learn more about the solutions we offer.
In detail, there are five LSS product levels: LSS Solo, LSS Vista, LSS Elite, LSS Vista with Point Clouds and LSS Elite with Point Clouds, all of which are described individually by product name. Please note that all LSS products are designed for PCs running 32 or 64bit versions of Windows 7, 8, or 10. We do not produce a Macintosh version, but it may be possible to run LSS under a Windows emulator on iOS.
If comparing LSS with other software, please note that LSS prices include technical support and software updates. There’s no up-front price, just the annual maintenance charge. Our prices are truly ‘Pay as you Earn’.
We have always been based in Birdlip, on the edge of the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire, England. It’s a very picturesque part of the the world as anyone who’s been to visit us will testify. The isolation and quiet we enjoy certainly makes for a very productive environment, if a little challenging to reach in the winter.
