Since April 2010 a selection of Ordnance Survey data has been available to download for free under the UK Government’s “Open Government Licence for public sector information”. You can download this data yourself, but the entire dataset is many Gb in size and the conversion of the images - which are in TIFF format - to a format which LSS can use is an extremely lengthy process. What we have done is saved you days of work by downloading and converting this data so it is ready to be imported into LSS. We have also put together some handy tutorials on how to use this data and make the most of it in your 3D visualisation, planning application or terrain analysis.

Supplied on a compact, portable 500Gb USB hard drive, the data can be copied between computers within your own organisation and you can also use the remaining space on the disk to store your LSS surveys or whatever data you require. Once you have bought one set of this data you can use it as many times as you like.
Plus, as a special bonus, we have also included the OS 1:250,000 scale colour raster maps which may be of use when visualising large areas (each map tile covers one entire 100km OS Grid square.

We've created an example LSS3DVantage 3D model of a single 5kmx5km area so you can see the quality of the OS StreetView raster map and the effects you get by draping it onto the Land-Form Panorama DTM. Hit the button to download a 2.5Mb self extracting zip file containing an LVM and the latest 3DVantage program. Download Example
The Panorama data is provided in its original ESRI ASCII Grid 20kmx20km files (up to 25 of them make up a single 100kmx100km square).
The StreetView 5kmx5km images have been converted from their native TIFF format into Bitmaps, together with their associated TFW (georeference) files ready to be added to an IPF in LSS.
We've also included a folder containing 56 1:250,000 colour raster map images, again with their associated TFW files, so they can be added to an IPF in LSS.
The data is accessed through a presentation which allows you to browse for the data and decide which tiles you want to use.
We also have four movie-style tutorials which show you how to use the data.
There are also Acrobat files containing detailed product descriptions and accuracy statements, together with descriptions and links to alternative datasets in which you may be interested, such as NextMap Britain and GetMapping aerial imagery.
As the drive does not require a separate power supply it is as portable as your computer and can be used for storing other data as well. And if your colleagues want to use the data all you need do is pass the device to them, or even share it across your network. The choice is yours. There is no copy protection. All you need to do is make sure you don't delete the files until you have finished with them because we can't reload them once we've shipped the drive to you. And finally, please make sure you read the accuracy statements and usage rules below before ordering.
Please note that McCarthy Taylor Systems Ltd neither maintain nor warrant this data. It is up to the purchaser to view the licence information and accuracy statements before purchase. The licence conditions are available to view HERE before purchase. You can also view the product details for Land-Form PANORAMA, OS StreetView and 1:250000 scale Colour Raster.
