Many of you will be pleased to learn that you can now get LSS updates automatically without having to worry about logging-on to our website.

When you run LSS for the first time each day it will check if there are any newer LSS files on our web server. If there are it will offer to download them. Then, when you close LSS it will download the files and install them. If you are away from your main place of work and do not have Internet access you can set a delay of up to ten days, during which time LSS will not attempt to check online for updates.

For the vast majority of users the system will be seamless and straightforward. For those on large corporate networks with high levels of security, the system may not allow you to automatically update. For those in this position, please continue to visit our website as we will be maintaining a download page here long-term.

In order to benefit from these improvements and to get automatic updates, first you need to follow the link below to install this 'update ready' version. Once you've installed this you should never be using out of date software again.

Please be aware that we have implemented the automatic updates in the LSS Beta program only. In the fullness of time, when the Beta testing is complete, you will be redirected to install version 9.70.01. Until this time, please continue to use and test the Beta version and let us know if you experience any problems, either with the program itself, or the automatic software updates.

Nigel, our salesman has been doing the job for longer than he cares to remember (or is able to). And over this time LSS has developed so much that a simple demo of Solo can easily turn into an all day event. There's so much in even this entry-level product that it's impossible to go through everything at a demo lasting a couple of hours. We recently updated the 'Getting Started Guide' which is shipped with every new copy and this helps new users get up and running quickly. Of course everyone has access to our technical support line, but many prefer to work through the problem themselves and rely upon the on-screen help, text-based turorials and the resources on our forum at lssforum.com.

However, not wishing to rest on our laurels, we have just invested in a new package which will allow us to record interactive screen-based tutorials which can then be accessed on-line by users searching for an explanation of how to perform a specific task, ranging from simple query commands through to complex design exercises. There is an audio commentary, so make sure you have sound switched on.

Some of you may already know that we are in the middle of an office redevelopment which should be finished by July. Those of you who have attended training at our offices will remember our training room which is devoid of any natural light and the occasional lunchtime clash with trainees from a company which shares some of our office facilities.

Tucked away at the back of the building with only birds and wildlife for company, our new training facility is larger, lighter (when it needs to be) and will feature the latest large-format Plasma screen technology, so training needn't be done in near darkness as it is when using projectors. Add to this a fleet of modern laptop computers and, just as importantly, premium quality lunches and we're sure that the training experience will be second to none.
