Some late nights, early mornings and much pulling of hair (not that Nigel has much to pull out in the first place) and we have finally launched our new website with full e-commerce facilities. Apart from the new look, the site will allow us to include a lot more content, make it much easier for users to download program updates and see really quickly how development of the product is going. In addition, it is possible to purchase software with a credit or debit card and also to book and pay for training online. We've also made it possible to pay invoices with a card.

The website layout itself was a doddle compared to the complexity of setting up e-commerce facilities. 2 banks and some major negotiations over payment terms later and we're there and hope that our visitors like the content and convenience that the new site brings.

Program News

The first bit of news is that we have just launched LSS Beta (version 9.75.01). For those who have been LSS testers before, you will know all about LSS Beta. For those new to the system it is the pre-release version of what will eventually be the main LSS program after further development and testing. Over the years we have discovered that the best people to test LSS are its users and the feedback we receive from them is invaluable in helping us through the difficult development process. If you would like to download and test LSS Beta please go to our website and follow the Download menu.

Alpha Testing

In our Spring 2009 Newsletter we asked for volunteers to be 'Guinea Pigs', err 'Alpha Testers' and we had a good response. Alpha testers will be asked to try out new LSS program concepts for us. We are working on major changes to the way the software interacts with the user, making it much more efficient and easier to use. Plus we've been working on new functionality. We're probably at least two or three weeks away from contacting those who volunteered, so please bear with us. We will be in touch soon.

Training for Quantity Surveyors

We have also been busy working on our training courses. So much so, we are now able to offer two new courses. One is specifically for Quantity Surveyors which covers a combination of the LSS Introduction and Intermediate courses, but with a slant towards the reporting of quantities and querying existing LSS surveys, rather than creating them in the first place. This course is currently being offered as a Bespoke course, so for £500+VAT you can train up to six QS's in everything they might need in order to work with or specify data coming out of LSS.

Training for Leica users

Our second new course is based around the Mid-Range Leica instruments. We originally called this course the 'Leica Flexline Workshop', but in hindsight felt that this confused people and unnecessarily narrowed its appeal. By renaming it 'Mid-Range' we are more clearly explaining which instruments it covers, specifically everything from the TPS 300, 400, 700 and 800 right up to the Flexline range. It is a practical one day workshop which costs £150+VAT per trainee. Bring along whatever instrument you have and we'll run through how to configure it, go out and do a survey and process the results in LSS. The next timetabled course is on the 30th July at our offices in Gloucestershire. Call for more details or book your place via our website.
